Writing Circle
The Literary Interest Society’s Writing Circle is an excellent opportunity for members to develop their creative writing skills. Whether it’s poetry, prose, a paper for class or any other variation of writing, members are encouraged to practice their craft during these meetings and receive critical feedback from like minded individuals. Writing Circle meetings typically include participants sharing their work to date, receiving feedback, and occasionally working on a writing exercise. The fruits of their labor can be turned in for a better grade on a paper, exhibited during recitation events and conferences, and are eligible to be submitted to The Montage, a publication of student work.
In the Spring Semester we will be trying a new format for Writing Circle. Similar to the new format for Book Club, the Writing Circle will have an online component as well. Instead of limiting our discussion to meetings, everyone is invited to share their thoughts and work via the new Writing Circle Online Forum located at the bottom of this page. This is a new feature for the LIS Writing Circle and we encourage everyone to use it! Please keep comments centered on the topic at hand and feel free to respond to each other's posts. Remember, we are here to help each other, so let's stick to positive criticism and helpful feedback.
In person discussions are still encouraged! We would be happy to arrange face-to-face discussions as needed throughout the semester. If you are interested in having an in-person discussion, please send us an email at [email protected].
