Shakespeare Trip Spring 2012
This year, LIS will be going to see A Midsummer Night's Dream at the Shakespeare Theater in Chicago! We will depart from the Alton train station early in the morning on Friday, March 2nd, arrive in Chicago by the afternoon, and return to Alton train station early in the evening on Sunday, March 4th. During our time in Chicago we will take in the culture at local shops, visit the Museum of Natural History, eat pizza at Gino's, and experience a thrilling performance at the Shakespeare Theater! Please check back for exact departure times and hotel accommodations.
All members wishing to attend must complete a Shakespeare Trip contract and return it to Dr. DeWall or Heather Yancy by Friday, October 14th. The approximate cost of attending the Shakespeare Trip this year is $200 per member. LIS asked the Student Government Association for financial assistance and we were awarded $544! This will help lower everyone’s cost for the trip! We are also going to reapply in the Spring Semester to see if we can be awarded additional funds as well.
Moreover, the LIS Officers have worked hard to ensure that members have ample fundraising opportunities throughout the semester in order to offset their cost of attending the trip. Remember, it is possible to raise enough profit during the individual fundraisers to attend the trip without paying any money out of pocket. There is one final individual fundraising opportunity through LIS scheduled prior to the Shakespeare Trip. Please, make the most of it! Additional information will be made available through LIS meetings, email and our website under the Fundraisers tab. Please check in regularly as information is subject to change.
Curious about how much you owe toward the trip? Email Sarah Schomaker, LIS Treasurer, to find out where you stand!
